NOTD - Essie "Merino Cool"

During my trip to Brussels I bought my first Essie nail polish and I chose this purple grayish number. It's a great shade for autumn/ winter, very glossy, with a staying power of around five days without chipping. Personally, I love purple nail polishes for all seasons because I think they look great on the nails and "Merino Cool" from Essie makes no exception. I have two coats on my nails in the pictures below and as you can see they are enough to obtain an opaque shade. However, in case you want the colour to be even more intense, you can apply another coat without fearing that it would look too thick. All in all, a lovely nail polish which has quickly become one of my favourite shades for the cold season!

What do you think? What's you favourite autumn/ winter nail polishes? x

My Favourite Outfit

It's that time of the year again, the time of OOTDs shot indoors because a) it gets dark at 5 p.m. when people are usually still at work, and b) it's freezing cold outside to take photos in just a jumper/ shirt/ dress. So, from now on, please excuse the "interesting" decor :) I should also add that I'm soooo self-conscious when it comes to taking outfit pics outside because I am too shy and I feel like everybody is staring and judging me, so in a way I prefer indoor pics, even though they are less interesting. Anyway, looking at these photos I've noticed that my face looks kind of weird (I look so bored and tired) and I don't know why. Maybe I'm not a photogenic person when it comes to indoor pics? But I don't mind it that much since the focus should be on the clothes; so just ignore my weird facial expressions :))

Moving on now, to the real reason of this post, this is one of my favourite outfits for winter...very comfortable yet a bit chic, don't you think? My favourite piece from this outfit are the tan boots. Where should I start describing how much I love them? I know I bought a new pair less than a month ago, but I saw this super gorgeous pair during my trip to Brussels and I thought I should treat myself to an early Christmas present. But more about them in a future post where I will tell you all about them. The jumper is another purchase from Brussels and it is now one of my favourite jumpers because it has a lovely colour, an interesting design with a lower back and it is sewed with a metallic thread. The bag is around three years old but it's still one of my favourites and the snood seems to be the perfect choice for these cold days. All in all, a very comfortable outfit in which I feel great! Hope you like it!

Brussels, my love

Hello girls! Long time no speak, I know, but I have been really busy this month, hence the lack of posts. But here I am again, with a special post no less :) If you follow me on twitter you probably know that I've been in Brussels for the past week...and I enjoyed it tremendously. Technically, it was a business trip, but thankfully for me my company didn't need my help as much as I though, hence I had loads of free time to visit the city, eat delicious Belgian specialities and hit the shops. So, it was more of a mini-vacation and I had such a beautiful time there! If you ever have the chance to go to Brussels, don't hesitate, because even though you don't have loads of places to visit, you will be impressed by the beautiful architecture, the nice museums, the delicious food and the relaxing atmosphere. I think that Brussels it's a great destination if you are considering going on a city break.

I think that my favourite places in Brussels were the Grand Place (gorgeous architecture) and the Costume Museum (ok ok, the street full of shops -Rue Neuve - was pretty amazing too).  It was the first time I've visited a museum which exhibits garments from the 18th and 19th century and I enjoyed it so much. The gowns were simply incredible! As far as the food is concerned, you have to try the waffles. I've never in my life eaten such delicious waffles. After all, they are a Belgian speciality! Also, the fish and mussels were really good as well, and I should probably mention that almost every dish was served with fries (some of the best fries I've ever tried). All in all, I had a beautiful time in Brussels and I would definitely go there again! Below I am going to show you some of the photos I took during my trip :)

Today I like...

...Jessica Alba looking like a real life princess in Valentino. What an amazing dress, don't you think? It has a gorgeous colour and it's incredibly feminine and fairytale-like. In my opinion, Valentino creates the most stunning ball gowns.

New Boots!!!

Hello guuuuys! I am so excited to show you my latest purchase, namely my brand new boots! I bought them 2 days ago from Il Passo (a Romanian shoe brand) and I love them to pieces. They are so perfect and go with almost every single piece in my wardrobe. They have a rich cognac colour, some small buckle details and are made of qualitative leather. My favourite thing about them is that they are knee-high and have no zips. They are perfect I tell you, perfect! I am behaving like a mad woman, I know, but I am so happy with them and wanted to share my enthusiasm :)

You can find them here

Why do you think? I don't know if I said this before, but boots are my favourite part about the cold season and I love wearing them. This is why I get super excited when I find a pair which I absolutely love. Am I the only boot obsessed lady around here? Please share your own gems in the comment box below :)

I'm off to a birthday party now, have a wonderful weekend everyone! x

Guerlain "Lingerie de Peau" Foundation Review

Every year I used to switch my foundation because I wasn't pleased with any of them, whether they were from the high street or from more expensive brands. Fortunately for me, I believe I have finally found my holly grail foundation, namely Guerlain's Lingerie de Peau in the shade 03 - Beige Naturel. This is an amazing product, it feels really light on the skin, while giving it a natural and healthy finish. This foundation has a light towards medium coverage, but it is buildable, thus if you want to hide some imperfections you can apply another layer without worrying it would look like a mask. The result is a beautiful, radiant and natural looking skin.

I think that the foundation has such amazing results because it is build around a formula of skin-infusion, which means that this foundation blends in the texture of your skin, offering you the "second skin" effect. I really love the name they came up with - Lingerie de Peau; I think it really captures the essence of this product: as light and soft as a lingerie.

I should probably add that this foundation has SPF 20 and it can be quite hydrating, thus making it very comfortable to wear. Furthermore, it has a great staying power and it tends to keep my T-zone under control; my face can look a bit oily after a few hours of wearing make-up, but this particular foundation really reduces the sebum production and the shine effect.

However, because this is a light and transparent foundation I don't think it is suited for a skin with problems which needs more coverage. Furthermore, it is really pricey (around 45 Euros). Is it worth it then, you may ask? I would say definitely yes, because it leaves you with a perfect looking skin. But, as I said in many of my reviews, this is my personal opinion of the product and I describe how it works on me. This is why I think that the best thing to do is to ask for a sample and try it at home before purchasing it.

I hope this review has been helpful x

YSL Shocking Mascara Review

I've been using YSL's Shocking mascara for the past month and a half and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. Considering the good reviews I read before purchasing it, I really had high expectations, but unfortunately it disappointed me immensely. It's true that it gave my lashes some volume, but it was very clumpy and it made them look really heavy. Furthermore, it didn't provide any visible length and it also transferred to my lower eyelid. Also, it dried too quickly in my opinion, after less than one month and a half of use. Unfortunately, the only shocking thing about this mascara was haw badly it looked on my lashes.

However, I would like to stress out that this mascara might work really well on somebody else because as you know, not all products work the same on everyone. This is just my personal opinion on this particular product which can be perfect for somebody else.

Until now, my ultimate favourite mascara remains Diorshow Extase, but I'm currently using Benefit's They're Real and I am really pleased with it so far. Let's hope I will be just as pleased after one month of use as I am now.

Lots of love x
